Summary:  Provides a full range of benefits and customer service support in the administration of company sponsored health and welfare benefit plans. Classifies, stores, retrieves, and updates generated information by performing the following duties. Meets Company’s established attendance policy and performs essential job functions during scheduled hours and extended work hours when demand requires.
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities including the following; other duties may be assigned. 
  • Ensure that calls are answered in a timely basis and documented appropriately in the call tracking database. Provides associates appropriate follow up to ensure successful closure of inquiries while maintaining service excellence.
  • Support the following Human Resource tasks:  
    • Leave of Absence & Disability
    • Information Boards
    • Service and Recognition
    • Plan Audit & Compliance
    • Coverage & Incentive Changes
    • New Hire Verification
    • Health Care Reform tracking
    • Payments & Arears Maintenance
    • WOTC/TALX
    • CPAY
    • I-9/everfiy
    • Compliance Reports
    • Scanning/FileNet
    • Incoming Paperwork Verifications
    • Subpoenas
    • Unemployment
    • COBRA
    • Benefit mailings
    • Respond to 3rd party requests
  • Maintain and secure records in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Pull newly eligible associates and send sign off sheets to stores. File sign off sheets when they are returned to the Benefits department for reference.
  • Act as a liaison between associate and insurance carrier/third party vendors regarding eligibility, billing, and claim inquiries.

Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education/Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to two years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
 
Language Ability:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as government forms, legal documentation, policy manuals, procedure documentation and summary benefit plans. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.   
 
Math Ability:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
 
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
 
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should be proficient in Microsoft Word; Microsoft Excel.
 
Preferred Skills:
Payroll systems; Microsoft Outlook; and Human Resource systems. Requires a familiarity with data entry procedures. 
 
Certificates and Licenses:
No certifications needed
 
Other Qualifications:
Associate must be extremely detail oriented and possess good organizational skills. Knowledge of FMLA, COBRA, HIPAA, and Harris Teeter health and welfare benefits preferred. Must have ability to multi-task, prioritize, and work well under pressure. Must possess and demonstrate excellent phone skills and ability to project professionalism, courtesy, tact, diplomacy, discretion, and sound judgment in providing world class customer service.
